According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Bears OLB Pernell McPheeย (knee) “faces the real prospect” of openingย the 2016 season on the reserve/PUP list, which would cost him the first six games.
- Rapoport adds that McPhee’s rehab from a knee injury has been slow thus far.
McPhee is currently on the active/PUP list, so transferring him to the reserve list would actually free up a roster spot ahead of the upcoming 53-man roster deadline.
McPhee, 27, is in the second year of his five-year, $38.75 million contract. The deal contains $15.5 million guaranteed. He stands to make a base salary of $7 million for the 2016 season.
In 2015, McPhee appeared in 14 games for the Bears and recorded 53 tackles, six sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and three pass defenses.
