According to Ian Rapoport, Bears RB David Montgomery is expected to miss 2-4 weeks with his groin injury.
Rapoport adds there’s a chance Montgomery could be back in time for Chicago’s season opener against the Lions.
Montgomery went down during individual drills in Wednesday’s practice with a non-contact injury and had to leave practice. But thankfully Montgomery doesn’t appear to be hurt as bad as initially feared.
Montgomery, 23, was drafted by the Bears in the third round out of Iowa State in 2019. He signed a four-year deal worth $4.015 million and is set to make a base salary of $685,136 in 2020.
In 2019, Montgomery appeared in all 16 games for the Bears and rushed 242 times for 889 yards (3.7 YPC) and six touchdowns. He added 25 catches for 185 yards and one touchdown while losing two fumbles.
