Brad Biggs of theย Chicago Tribune reports the Bears and RB Matt Forte have yet to progress on a long-term deal that would keep him in Chicago beyond the 2012 season.
Bears GM Phil Emery mentioned that he would like to get something worked out with Forte.
“We continue to work with Matt and his agent in that effort,” Emery said on Friday, per Dan Parr. “I’m not going to get into details, but we continue to work with each other to find common ground.”
This has been what the team has been saying for several months now but until they actually start making some serious progress,ย Forte will most likely be heading into offseson workouts without a contract for the second straight season. You’d have to think that there’s a good chance that Forte will holdout the teams’ offseason programs in the coming months.
Biggs adds that the Bears will “monitor [Kamerion’s] situation” in the coming days but admits that he could end up requiring a much larger contract than the team would be willing to commit to.
