The Chicago Bears announced Monday that they’ve signed seven players to future/reserve contracts for the 2018 season.
The full list includes:
- TE Colin Thompson
- WR Tanner Gentry
- OL Will Pericak
- WR Mekale McKay
- WR Demarcus Ayers
- OL Travis Averill
- DB Doran Grant
Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Gentry, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Wyoming back in May. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Bears cut him loose coming out of the preseason and later signed him to their practice squad.
Gentry was on and off of the Bears’ roster this season.
In 2017, Gentry has appeared in four games and caught three passes for 35 yards receiving and no touchdowns for the Bears.
