According to Adam Schefter, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger plans to play in 2021.
Roethlisberger has one year remaining on his contract. Though he’s battled some injuries this year, Schefter says his sources tell him Roethlisberger is having too much fun with the current team to walk away now.
The longtime Steelers veteran will be 39 going into next season. It will be interesting to see if Pittsburgh does anything with an extension for Roethlisberger, as he will count $41.25 million against the cap in 2021.
Roethlisberger, 38, is a former first-round pick of the Steelers back in 2004. He finalized a three-year, $68 million contract last offseason that included a $37.5 million signing bonus.
Roethlisberger stands to make a base salary of $8,500,000 in 2021.
In 2020, Roethlisberger has appeared in 13 games for the Steelers and completed 66.2 percent of his passes for 3,292 yards, 29 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
