According to ESPN’s Diana Russini, a source says the Bengals are another team with interest in signing DT Gerald McCoy.
The Bengals join the Colts, Browns and Patriots as teams strongly linked to McCoy following his release from the Buccaneers.
The Colts have the most cap space in the NFL, and reportedly have had or will have discussions about signing McCoy. The Browns have also inquired about McCoy.
According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, the Patriots have shown interest in signing McCoy and reuniting him with DE Michael Bennett.
McCoy would like to sign with a playoff contender and still make money, so depending on what he prioritizes most, these could figure to be some teams to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
McCoy, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2010. He was in the fifth year of his seven-year, $95.2 million contract and set to make a base salary of $13 million in 2019 when the Buccaneers released him.
In 2018, McCoy appeared in 14 games for the Buccaneers and recorded 28 tackles, six sacks, and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 28 interior defender out of 112 qualifying players.
