Bengals Waive RB Mark Walton

Paul Dehner Jr. reports that the Bengals have waived RB Mark Walton on Saturday.

Cincinnati confirmed that they have cut Walton.

Walton was arrested three times in less than three months, so this does not come as a surprise.

It’s important for our team to get off to a fresh start as we begin the 2019 season,” said Bengals’ new HC Zac Taylor in regards to Walton’s situation.

David Ovalle of the Miami Herald reported earlier this week that Walton was arrested and is facing charges of carrying a concealed weapon, marijuana possession and reckless driving stemming from a high-speed car chase.

Miami-Dade police officers attempted to pull Walton over because he was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic. One officer ordered Walton to get on the ground as he was getting out of the vehicle and after he fell to the ground, Walton “sprang to his feet” and ran off. Walton was shot in the back with a Taser gun, but he dislodged the electrified prongs, ran off and vanished.

Officers searched the car and found 14 grams of marijuana, a 9 mm carbine rifle, and several fully loaded clips.

Walton was already facing two earlier criminal cases before the latest incident.

Walton, 21, is a former fourth-round pick of the Bengals back in 2018. He was entering the second year of his four-year, $3,145,348 and was set to make a base salary of $570,000 for the 2019 season.

In 2018, Walton appeared in 14 games for the Bengals and rushed for 34 yards while catching five passes for 41 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
