Bills Sign RB Phillip Tanner

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post is reporting that the Bills are signing RB Phillip Tanner to a contract.

The Bills had to bring someone in after they lost Fred Jackson for close to a month and C.J. Spiller could be out for the season with a broken collarbone.

Tanner, 25, signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Middle Tennessee State back in 2011. He spent three years with the team, but Dallas ultimately passed on tendering him qualifying offer during the offseason.

Tanner later caught on with the Colts before returning to the Cowboys towards the end of August.

Tanner appeared in 39 regular season games over the course of his three-year NFL career and has totaled 149 yards rushing on 56 carries (2.7 YPC) and two touchdowns.
