NFC Notes: George Kittle, Kyren Williams, 49ers, Rams, Seahawks

49ers

49ers TE George Kittle is back in the starting lineup after recovering from a torn Achilles he suffered in January. San Francisco QB Brock Purdy said Kittle’s return has been “remarkable.”

“That’s actually remarkable to be able to have that kind of injury and do what he did to get back,” Purdy said, via Nick Wagoner of ESPN. “He flew places, he did things. He did everything the right way, and he just worked his tail off every day.”

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey said Kittle is one of the “hardest workers” he’s ever seen.

“I think as much as people know George, I don’t think anyone really sees how much he puts into this,” McCaffrey said. “He’s a fun, loving guy. He’s charismatic. He’s everybody’s best friend. … But if you didn’t know any of that and you just saw his work, you’d be like, ‘He’s one of the hardest workers you’ve ever seen.'”

Kittle said his approach has always been to make sure he has a long career.

“For my entire life, especially my NFL career, it’s all about how good I can be at football for as long as I can be,” Kittle said. “I don’t care if I’m on vacation. I don’t care if I’m out with the boys. I don’t care if I’m on a golf trip. I’m very aware that football is what’s allowed me to have this awesome life. And so that’s always been my No. 1 priority.”

Rams

Rams RB Kyren Williams logged 15 carries for 88 yards and six receptions for 70 yards in Week 3. Los Angeles HC Sean McVay praised Williams’ performance and his ability to stay on the field.

“I think it depends on being able to stay on the field,” McVay said, via RamsWire. “He was a stud. I thought his emotional energy was outstanding and his production. He’s just such a competitor. I love everything that guy’s about. I do think it’s important to get a feel and ride the hot hand. You know the confidence that I have in Blake [Corum], but I thought he was able to bring a lot of really cool things to life. I thought he got everything and that much more on some of his runs and then made a bunch of big-time plays in the pass game. Really some of the plays he made in the pass game, particularly on that second two-minute drive, were key and critical and gave us an opportunity to even be able to win the game when I think a lot of the percentages were stacked against you. He was one of those guys that gave us a chance. I love that guy and everything he’s about and want to continue to have him be a focal point of what we’re doing moving forward.”

Seahawks

Seahawks WR Rashid Shaheed has just six receptions for 53 yards through the first three games of the season. When asked about Shaheed’s involvement, HC Mike Macdonald said WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba is soaking up most of the action and is confident things will turn around for the receiver.

“I don’t know what exactly his numbers are,” Macdonald said, via PFT. “I know the ball’s finding [Jaxon Smith-Njigba] a lot right now. Sheed’s doing a great job. Because of the question, I’m assuming you’re thinking the ball’s not finding him as much, but it will. I think we’ve just got to stick to our process. There’s always something that maybe we want to improve in our game, but we’ve just got to keep attacking it, stick with it, make some tweaks in how we approach everything and trust that the ball goes in the right direction and it’ll find him, but he’s doing a good job.”
