Adam Schefter reports that the Falcons are signing LB Deion Jones a four-year, $57 million extension that includes $34 million guaranteed. Jones is now under team control through the 2023 season.
- Pro Football Talk reports that the contract includes $11 million to sign and $25.8 million fully guaranteed at signing, with another $8.5 million guaranteed for injury.
- According to Albert Breer, Jones stands to make $35.5 million over the first three years of the agreement.
A report from earlier in the day mentioned that Jones’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus, was meeting in Atlanta with the Falcons and an agreement could be in place by the end of business today.
This is the second major order of business for Atlanta after locking up DT Grady Jarrett to an extension Monday. The Falcons are also working on a new deal for WR Julio Jones.
Jones, 24, is a former second-round pick of the Falcons back in 2016. He was entering in the final year of his four-year, $4.546 million contract and set to make a base salary of $1.07 million for the 2019 season.
In 2018, Jones appeared in six games and recorded 53 tackles, one sack, two interceptions with one being returned for a touchdown, a forced fumble and six pass defenses.
