Cardinals Signing Sam Bradford To Two-Year Deal

Adam Schefter reports that free agent QB Sam Bradford intends to sign with the Cardinals.

  • According to Peter Schrager, Bradford gets a two-year deal from the Cardinals.
  • Ian Rapoport clarifies that the second year of the agreement is an option for the Cardinals to pick up in 2019.
  • Kent Somers reports that Bradford’s contract will pay him an average salary of $18 million per year and can be worth up to $20 million.

There are serious questions and concerns about Bradford’s knee and how it will hold up moving forward, so it will be interesting to see the contract details for his agreement with the Cardinals.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reported last month that Dr. James Andrews has told Bradford that his surgically repaired knee is sound and his ligaments are intact.

Last year, Bradford suffered a non-contact bone bruise in his left knee and later placed on injured reserve. Minnesota would later designate Bradford to return from injured reserve before activating him toward the end of the season.

Even with the Bradford signing, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Cardinals take a quarterback in round 1 to develop in the coming years.

Bradford, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Rams back in 2010. He spent four years with the Rams before he was traded to the Eagles in 2015. After Bridgewater sustained a serious knee injury last year, the Eagles traded him to the Vikings for draft compensation.

Bradford played out the final year of his two-year, $36 million contract that included $36 million guaranteed.

In 2017, Bradford appeared in two games and thrown for 382 yards while completing 74.4 percent of his passes to go along with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
