Broncos Claim Veteran RB Justin Forsett Off Waivers From Lions

The Denver Broncos have claimed veteran RB Justin Forsett off of waivers from the Lions on Monday, according to Adam Schefter.

Forsett is reunited with HC Gary Kubiak, whom he played for while with the Ravens a few years ago.

Forsett, 31, was actually among the team’s roster cuts coming out of the preseason but he later signed a nearly identical contract with the Ravens right before the start of the regular season. He received a two-year, $6 million contract from the Ravens but was released during the season.

The Ravens will still owe Forsett his $3 million base salary because he’s a vested veteran who was on their roster to open the year.

The Lions later signed Forsett to a contract back in October but elected to cut him loose this past weekend.

In 2016, Forsett has rushed for 136 yards on 44 carries (3.1 YPC) to go along with 13 receptions for 51 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
