The Denver Broncos announced that they’ve placed OLB Bradley Chubb on injured reserve and signed OLB Jeremiah Attaochu to a contract on Tuesday.
- The Broncos also signed OT Calvin Anderson off of the Jets’ practice squad and waived LB Keishawn Bierria.
Chubb is out for the season with a torn ACL, so it’s not surprising to see Denver move quickly to bolster their depth at the position.
Chubb, 23, was taken with the No. 5 overall pick in 2018 out of North Carolina State by the Broncos. Chubb signed a four-year, $27,380,796 contract that includes a $17,993,304 signing bonus.
The contract includes a fifth-year option for the Broncos to pick up in 2021.
In 2019, Chubb appeared in four games and recorded 21 total tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and one pass defense. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 69 edge defender out of 102 qualifying players through four games.
Attaochu, 26, is a former second-round pick by the Chargers in the 2014 NFL Draft. He finished his four-year rookie contract before signing a one-year, $3 million contract with the 49ers.
Unfortunately, Attaochu was among their final roster cuts and he later signed on with the Jets last year. He secured an opportunity with the Chiefs this past April, but wound up being among their final roster cuts.
In 2018, Attaochu appeared in 11 games for the Jets and recorded nine total tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble.
