ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Browns C Cameron Erving was diagnosed with a pulmonary contusion and will remain in hospital overnight for observation.
A pulmonary contusion is also known as lung contusion, which is the result of damage to capillaries, blood and other fluids accumulate in the lung tissue.
Erving was taken off the field on a stretcher Sunday and transported via an ambulance to the hospital after the team’s loss to the Ravens.
Erving, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Browns last year. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $9.429 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $863,594 for the 2016 season.
In 2015, Irving appeared in all 16 games for the Browns.
We’ll have more regarding Erving’s condition and timetable as the news is available.
