Browns GM John Dorsey said Tuesday that they’ve opened extension talks with WR Breshad Perriman and Rashard Higgins and OT Greg Robinson.
“We’ve had conversations with [their] representatives and we’ll continue to have conversations,” Dorsey said of the two receivers, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “Once we get the chance to get the new coaching staff in place and we have an assessment of our team and the positions, then I’ll be able to better answer that question.”
As for Robinson, Dorsey mentioned that they’ve been in contact with his reps.
“I like Greg and I like everything he represents,” Dorsey said. “With regard to could he be our left tackle, we’ve had ongoing conversations with his representatives.”
All three players are in line to be free agents in the coming months.
Perriman, 25, is a former first-round pick out of Central Florida by the Ravens in the 2015 NFL Draft. He spent over three seasons in Cleveland before he was cut loose coming out of the preseason.
The Redskins signed Perriman to a contract during the season, but elected to cut him loose soon after. The Browns later signed him to a contract and he finished out the year in Cleveland.
In 2018, Perriman appeared in 10 games for the Browns and caught 16 passes for 340 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
Higgins, 24, is a former fifth-round pick of the Browns back in 2016. He was entering the second year of his four-year, $2.584 million contract when the Browns elected to cut him loose at the start of the 2017 season.
Higgins was later signed to the Browns’ practice squad before eventually being promoted to their active roster during the 2017 season. He’ll be a restricted free agent in the coming months.
In 2018, Higgins appeared in 13 games for the Browns and caught 39 passes for 572 yards receiving and four touchdowns.
Robinson, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Rams back in 2014. He spent three years with the Rams before they declined to pick up his fifth-year option and was later traded Robinson to the Lions.
Detroit cut Robinson loose in 2017 and he signed on with the Browns in June of last year.
In 2018, Robinson appeared in all 16 games for the Browns and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 63 offensive tackle out of 80 qualifying players.
