Browns RB Kareem Hunt Cleared To Practice With Team

The Cleveland Browns announced on Monday that RB Kareem Hunt has been cleared to rejoin the team and return to practice. 

Hunt has been serving an eight-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy in a domestic violence incident last year where he was caught on camera kicking a woman. He’s eligible to return to play in Week 10 for the Browns. 

Hunt also underwent surgery for a sports hernia earlier this season but should be recovered by now and ready to play. 

Hunt, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2017. He was in the second year of his four-year, $3.263-million contract and set to make base salaries of $555,000 and $645,000 over the next two years of the agreement when the Chiefs waived him in December.

The Browns elected to sign Hunt to a one-year contract worth over $1 million, not factoring in a suspension. Hunt will forfeit $303,529 of his $645,000 base salary with his eight-game suspension, with a chance to earn $200,000 in per-game roster bonuses upon return.

In 2018, Hunt appeared in 11 games for the Chiefs and rushed for 824 yards on 181 carries (4.6 YPC) to go along with 26 receptions for 378 yards receiving and 14 total touchdowns.
