The Cleveland Browns announced Monday that they’ve signed TEย Gavin Escobar to a futures contract for the 2018 season.
As of now, the Browns have signed 11 players to futures deals including:
- WR C.J. Board
- LB Austin Calitro
- DB Trevon Hartfield
- WR Bug Howard
- RB Josh Rounds
- OL Victor Salako
- DB B.W. Webb
- WR Kasen Williams
- DL Collin Bevins
- RBย Kelvin Taylor
- TEย Gavin Escobar
Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Escobar, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2013. He played out his four-year, $4.21 million rookie contract with the Cowboys and was testing the open market for the first time in his career when he signed aย one-year. $885,000 contract that included $80,000 guaranteed with the Chiefs last offseason.
Unfortunately, Kansas City elected toย Escobar loose coming out of the preseason. Escobar had a brief stint with the Ravens last year.
In 2016, Escobar appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys and caught four passes for 30 yards receiving and one touchdown.
