Joel Corry of CBS Sports notes that Cardinals G Mike Iupati‘s contract officially voids on Friday, which means he’ll become an unrestricted free agent this March.
According to Corry, the Cardinals will have a $3.7 million cap charge from the bonus proration relating to Iupatiโs 2019 contract year.
Iupati, 31, is a former first-round pick of the 49ers back in 2010. He played out his rookie contract with the 49ers before signing a five-year, $40 million contract with $22.5 million guaranteed with the Cardinals back in 2015.
Iupati was set to make a base salary of $7.75 for the 2018 season when he agreed to a $3 million pay cut this offseason.
In 2018, Iupati appeared in 10 games for the Cardinals and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 31 guard out of 77 qualifying players.
