According to John Gambadoro, the Cardinals are hosting free agent CB Marcus Cooper for a visit on Friday.
This is the first reported interest in Cooper since he became available last week.
It’s worth mentioning that signing Cooper to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.
Cooper, 28, is a former seventh-round pick of the 49ers back in 2013. He was, unfortunately, unable to make the 49ers’ 53-man roster during his rookie season, but was later claimed off of waivers by the Chiefs.
The Chiefs traded Cooper to the Cardinals in return forย a conditional 2018 seventh-roundย pick and he played his contract before signing a three-year, $16 million deal with the Bears last year. He was set to make base salaries of $5 million over the final two years when the Bears cut him loose this offseason.
In 2017, Cooper appeared in 15 games for the Bears and recorded 18 tackles, no interceptions and three pass defenses.
