The San Diego Chargers announced Monday that they placed G Johnnie Troutman onย season-ending injured reserve andย re-signed OLย Kenny Wiggins.
San Diego has lost a number of offensive linemen for the season, so it is somewhat surprising that they’re still in the hunt for a playoff spot.
Troutman, 27, sustained a knee injury during Saturday’s win over the 49ers. He started all 15 games this year at right guard and is rated as the No. 77 guard out of 79 qualifying players by Pro Football Focus.
According to PFF’s ratings, Troutman equally as a run and pass-protector this season.
He’s in the final year of hisย four-year, $2.3 million rookie contract and will be an unrestricted free agent in the coming months.
