The Los Angeles Chargers officially signed RB Troymaine Pope to a futures contract for the 2019 season on Saturday.
The Chargers have now signed 10 players to futures deals including:
- DE Patrick Afriyie
- LB Tre’Von Johnson
- QB Cardale Jones
- P Ty Long
- WR Justice Liggins
- TE Vince Mayle
- WR Andre Patton
- DB Arrion Springs
- G Spencer Drango
- RB Troymaine Pope
Pope, 25, wound up signing on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Jacksonville State back in May. He was, unfortunately, unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later claimed off of waivers by the Jets.
Pope has had brief stints with the Seahawks, Colts and Texans before signing on to the Chargers’ practice squad back in December. He was later promoted to their active roster for a few weeks.
In 2016, Pope appeared in four games for the Seahawks and rushed for 44 yards on 12 carries (3.7 YPC) to go along with one reception for five yards receiving and no touchdowns.
