Chargers Sign RB Troymaine Pope To PS, Release LB Jonathan Celestin

The Los Angeles Chargers announced Wednesday that they’ve signed RB Troymaine Pope to their practice squad and released LB Jonathan Celestin from the unit.

Here’s the Chargers updated practice squad:

  1. DE Patrick Afriyie
  2. WR Dylan Cantrell
  3. S A.J. Hendy
  4. WR Andre Patton
  5. QB Cardale Jones
  6. G Spencer Drango
  7. TE Vince Mayle
  8. K Michael Badgley
  9. DE Vontarrius Dora
  10. RB Troymaine Pope

Pope, 24, wound up signing on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Jacksonville State back in May. He was, unfortunately, unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later claimed off of waivers by the Jets.

Pope later returned to the Seahawks and had brief stints with the Colts and Texans before once again signing on to the Seahawks’ practice squad a few weeks ago. Seattle just recently released him.

In 2016, Pope appeared in four games for the Seahawks and rushed for 44 yards on 12 carries (3.7 YPC) to go along with one reception for five yards receiving and no touchdowns.
