Chiefs Cut DE Anthony Lanier & RB Marcus Marshall

The Kansas City Chiefs officially Chiefs waived RB Marcus Marshall on Tuesday and released DE Anthony Lanier.

Lanier, 26, wound up signing on with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of Alabama A&M back in 2016. He was waived with an injury designation coming out of the preseason and he later reverted to the team’s injured reserve list.

Washington waived Lanier from injured reserve with an injury settlement and he eventually signed on to the Chargers’ practice squad last year. The Chiefs signed him to a futures contract this past January.

In 2017, Lanie appeared in 11 games and recorded 14 tackles, five sacks, a forced fumble, a recovery and six pass defenses.

Marshall, 23, wound up going undrafted out of James Madison in May of last year. He later signed a three-year, $1.755 million contract with the Chiefs, but was waived at the start of the regular season.

The Chiefs later signed Marshall to their practice squad after clearing waivers, but he was eventually released a month later. Kansas City brought him back on a futures contract this past January.
