The Kansas City Chiefs officially designated DT Xavier Williams as one of their two players to return from injured reserve on Wednesday.
This officially opens a three-week window of time for Williams to practice with the team before Kansas City will need to add him to their active roster.
Williams, 27, wound up signing on with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Iowa back in 2015. He wound up playing out his three-year, $1,583,000 contract with the Cardinals.
The Chiefs signed Williams to an offer sheet as a restricted free agent in 2018 after Arizona tendered him with the original round designation. He was awarded to Kansas City after the Cardinals declined to match.
In 2019, Williams has appeared in five games for the Chiefs and recorded eight total tackles and one forced fumble.
