Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles “Ahead Of Schedule” In His Return From Injury

Bob Gretz of CBS Sports reports that RB Jamaal Charles is currently “ahead of schedule” in his rehab for a torn ACL.

“I’m doing hard running right now,” said Charles. “When I was down in Pensacola (Florida), Dr. James Andrews, who did my surgery, said I was ahead of schedule. They’ll probably be smart about it for OTAs, be smart about me not doing that and they’ll probably wait until training camp.”

Charles wound up missing the entire 2011 season after suffering the injury during the teams’ first game in Detroit. The Chiefs have since added Peyton Hillis to handle some of the workload, but Charles still figures to be a vocal point in their offseason next season.
