Chiefs WR De’Anthony Thomas re-fractured his leg during what was described as a “freak accident” after he was stepped on from behind, per BJ Kissel.
The good news for Thomas is that he won’t need to undergo surgery.
Thomas, 25, was taken in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Chiefs. He just finished his four-year, $2,665,108 rookie contract and was set to become an unrestricted free agent.
The Chiefs re-signed Thomas to a one-year contract this past March. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent in 2019.
In 2018, Thomas has appeared in five games for the Chiefs and rushed for 29 yards on three carries and scored one touchdown. He has also caught one pass for six yards and totaled 106 combined kick and punt return yards.
