The Indianapolis Colts announced Monday that they have placed veteran Cย Phil Costa on theย Reserve/Retired list.
โPhil feels itโs in his best interest to retire from the game,โ said General Manager Ryan Grigson. โWe certainly understand and wish him nothing but the best.โ
This comes a surprise given that the Colts signed Costa to a two-year contract worth $2.75 millionย at the start of free agency.
Costa, 26, he was limited to playing in just three games last year andย Pro Football Focusย has himย down for playing just one snap last season.
Even with Costa on their roster, you could have made the case that they were in need of help at center. The best available options in free agency areย Kyle Cook,ย Fernando Velasco andย Jonathan Goodwin.ย
It wouldn’t be surprising to see them target a prospect in this year’s draft.
