Colts Signing FB Roosevelt Nix

Jordan Schultz of ESPN reports that the Colts are expecting to sign FB Roosevelt Nix to a one-year deal later on Saturday.

It’s worth mentioning that signing Nix to a contract won’t impact the Colts’ 2021 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.

Nix, 27, originally signed on with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Kent State back in 2014. He was unable to make the 53-man roster and sat out the entire 2014 season before signing a future/reserve contract with the Steelers in January of 2015.

The Steelers elected to sign him to a one-year exclusive rights deals in 2016 and 2017. He signed a four-year, $6.975 million extension after making the Pro Bowl in 2017, but was released by the Steelers last month.

In 2019, Nix appeared in three games for the Steelers and caught two passes for four yards receiving.
