Colts Name QB Riley Leonard Starter For Week 18

Per Ian Rapoport, the Colts have named QB Riley Leonard their starter for Week 18, with veteran QB Philip Rivers stepping aside as the team is officially out of playoff contention.

Indianapolis will have plenty to decide on at the position going forward, with Rivers likely to retire once again and Daniel Jones set to become a free agent.

There are also questions about former first-round QB Anthony Richardson, who was dealing with a fractured orbital that affected his vision.

Richardson was not activated from injured reserve this week, and Seth Henigan is set to be the backup for Leonard.

Leonard, 23, was a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft by the Colts out of Notre Dame. He signed a four-year, $4,435,244 rookie deal through 2028 and is making a base salary of $840k in 2025.

In 2025, Leonard has appeared in four games for the Colts and completed 18 of 33 passes for 145 yards and two interceptions. He’s also rushed for six yards and a touchdown.

We will have more on the Colts quarterback position as it becomes available.
