Colts P Rigoberto Sanchez announced on Instagram he is having surgery on Tuesday to remove a cancerous tumor.
Sanchez says he will be forced to miss some time as he recovers and potentially undergoes more treatment.
Sanchez, 26, wound up signing on with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Hawaii back in 2017. He was entering the final year of his three-year, $1.66 million contract and set to make a base salary of $645,000 for the 2019 season when he signed a four-year, $11.6 million extension.
In 2019, Sanchez appeared in 11 games for the Colts and totaled 1,464 yards on 31 attempts (47.2 YPA) to go along with 15 punts downed inside the 20-yard line.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Sanchez and his loved ones during this time.
