The Indianapolis Colts announced Tuesday that they’ve waived former first-round pick OLB Bjoern Werner.
Werner has clearly been a bust since the Colts used the No. 24 overall pick on him back in 2013.
Werner, 25, was in the final year of his four-year, $7.896 million rookie contract that included $6.414 million guaranteed. He was set to make a base salary of $1,035,781 for the 2016 season.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Werner will free up $1,481,781 in available cap space while creating $1,030,709 in dead money.
In 2015, Werner appeared in 10 games for the Colts and registered just 13 tackles and no sacks.
