Todd Archer reports that the Cowboys have signed TE Rico Gathers and WR Andy Jones to future/reserve contracts on Tuesday.
The Cowboys have now signed 13 players to futures deals. The full includes:

- LB Jeremiah George
- DB Sammy Seamster
- G Kadeem Edwards
- G Clay DeBord
- WR Shaquelle Evans
- RB Rod Smith
- TE Connor Hamlett
- CB Jeremiah McKinnon
- CB Duke Thomas
- LS Zach Wood
- TE Rico Gathers
Future/reserve contracts are essentially an opportunity for players compete for a roster spot in offseason workouts and during training camp.
Gathers, 25, is a former sixth-round pick of the Cowboys back in May of last year. However, he was cut loose coming out of the preseason and later signed to the team’s practice squad at the start of the regular season.
During his college career, Gathers played basketball for Baylor and was First Team All-Big 12 selection before converting to tight end and pursuing an NFL career.
