Dolphins Also Waiving RB Isaiah Pead & Practice Squad G Jamil Douglas

Alex Marvez of the Sporting News reports that the Dolphins are waiving RB Isaiah Pead on Tuesday and they continue to cut players from their roster after a disappointing Week 5 performance.

  • Adam Schefter adds that the Dolphins have also waived G Jamil Douglas from their practice squad.

Earlier in the day, reports mentioned that the Dolphins have waived G Dallas Thomas and OL Billy Turner.

Pead, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Rams back in 2012. He was in the final year of his four-year, $4.038 million rookie contract when St. Louis waived him a few months ago.

The Steelers later signed him to a contract after Le’Veon Bell got hurt, but he lasted just a few weeks in Pittsburgh. The Dolphins wound up signing him to a contract back in March and he managed to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason.

In 2016, Pead has appeared in three games and rushed for 22 yards on eight carries (2.8 YPC) to go along with one reception for six yards receiving and no touchdowns for the Dolphins.

Douglas, 24, is a former fourth-round pick of the Dolphins back in May of last year. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $2,798,564 contract and stands to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season.

The Dolphins elected to waive Douglas coming out of the preseason but he was signed to their practice squad just a day later. Miami promoted him to their active roster, only to cut him loose and re-sign him to their practice squad last week.

In 2015, Douglas appeared in all 16 games for the Dolphins.
