The Miami Dolphins re-signed restricted free agent Sย Michael Thomas, according toย Alex Marvez.
The original-round tender will cost the Dolphins around $1.797 million for the 2017 season.
Thomas, 27, originally signed on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Stanford back in 2012. He bounced on and off the 49ers’ practice squad before the Dolphins signed him off their practice squad back in 2013.
Miami later signed him to two consecutive one-year exclusive rights deals in as many years.
In 2016, Thomas appeared in all 16 games for the Dolphins and recorded 58 total tackles, one sack, one pass defense, and two fumble recoveries. Pro Football Focus graded him as the No. 84 safety out of 90 qualifying players.
It’s also worth mentioning that Thomas lead the league with 16 solo special teams tackles and 19 total tackles.
