Dolphins Re-Signing DT Chris Jones, Cut QB Brandon Doughty

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins are re-signing DT Chris Jones.

  • The Dolphins have already confirmed the move and added that they’ve waived QB Brandon Doughty.

This comes a day after Miami placed DT Earl Mitchell on injured reserve, so they’re clearly looking to bolster their depth at defensive tackle.

Jones, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the Texans back in 2013. He lasted just a few months in Houston before he was waived and later claimed off of waivers by the Patriots.

New England cut Jones loose in the days leading up to this year’s NFL draft and he wound up being claimed by the Dolphins. Unfortunately, Miami cut him loose a few weeks ago as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players.

In 2014, Jones appeared in 15 games for the Patriots and recorded 25 tackles and three sacks.
