Dolphins Release WR Ricardo Louis & QB Jake Rudock

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Dolphins have released WR Ricardo Louis and QB Jake Rudock on Saturday.

Louis, 26, was a fourth-round pick by the Browns out of Auburn in 2016.  He was entering the final year of his four-year rookie contract with Cleveland when they elected to cut him loose in April of last year.

He’s missed the last two seasons because of a neck injury suffered late in 2017.  Louis signed a one-year, $645,000 deal with the Dolphins shortly after being released by Cleveland.

Miami re-signed Louis to a one-year deal this past February.

In 2017, Louis appeared in 16 games for the Browns, catching 27 passes for 357 yards (13.2 YPC) and no touchdowns.

Rudock, 26, is a former sixth-round pick by the Lions of the 2016 NFL Draft. Detroit elected to waive him as they trimmed down to the 53-man limit at the start of the 2016 season and they signed him to their practice squad after clearing waivers.

Rudock managed to make the 53-man roster in 2017 and returned to the Lions on an exclusive rights free agent the following year. He spent the 2018 season the Lions practice squad before joining the Dolphins on a futures contract last January.

Miami added Rudock to the taxi squad at the start of the regular season. The Dolphins brought him back on a futures contract this past January.

In 2017, Rudock appeared in three games for the Lions and completed three of five pass attempts for 24 yards and an interception.
