Herron, 25, originally signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of LSU back in May of last year. He agreed to a three-year, $1.71 million contract with New England, but was waived coming out of the preseason.
Herron had a brief stint with the Seahawks before returning to the Patriots on a futures contract this past January. He later caught on with the Titans before signing on to the Lions’ practice squad last month.
During his four-year college career at LSU, Herron recorded 67 tackles, six tackles for a loss, two sacks, three forced fumbles and a recovery.
