The Miami Dolphins are bringing in receivers Ricardo Louis and Andre Patton for tryouts this week, according to Aaron Wilson.
Louis, 26, was a fourth-round pick by the Browns out of Auburn in 2016. He was entering the final year of his four-year rookie contract with Cleveland when they elected to cut him loose.
He’s missed the last two seasons because of a neck injury suffered late in 2017. Louis signed a one-year, $645,000 deal with the Dolphins shortly after being released by Cleveland.
Miami re-signed Louis to a one-year deal this past February before cutting him loose in July. He returned to the Dolphins a short time later in August but was cut once again in September.
In 2017, Louis appeared in 16 games for the Browns, catching 27 passes for 357 yards (13.2 YPC) and no touchdowns.
Patton, 26, wound up going undrafted out of Rutgers back in 2017. He later signed on with the Chargers but was waived coming out of the preseason his rookie year.
Since then, Patton has been on and off of the Chargers’ practice squad. He was promoted to Los Angeles’ active roster in September of last year.
The Chargers waived Patton and he signed on with the Cardinals in 2020 but was later among the team’s final roster cuts. He later joined Arizona’s practice squad but was released last month.
In 2019, Patton appeared in 13 games and recorded six receptions for 56 yards receiving (9.3 YPC) and no touchdowns.
