Leo, 27, is from Adelaide, Australia. He moved from Australia to the United States when he was 22 to try converting from rugby to a career in football. He worked as a plumber after graduating high school and transferred to Iowa State from Arizona Western CC in 2017.
During his three-year career at Iowa State, he recorded 33 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and three sacks in 29 games.
Leo was listed by Iowa State at 6-7 and 275 pounds.
The International Player Pathway program was instituted by the NFL in 2017 as a way to grow the game of football. Each year one of the NFL’s eight divisions will be randomly chosen to receive one international player each.
Those players don’t count against the 90-man roster limit and can be carried as an eleventh practice squad member if they’re not signed to a contract.
