The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced 19 roster cuts on Saturday and two of the more notable names among this group includeย K Alex Henery andย RB Kenjon Barner.
Henery’s release isn’t all that shocking given thatย Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.comย reported last night that that rookieย Cody Parkeyย has beaten him out for the Eagles’ kicking job.
Henery, 27, convertedย 1 of 3 field goal attempts this preseason. Last year,ย Henery was successful on 82.1 percent of his field goal attempts and made one of two tries from at least 50 yards.
He’s entering the final year of his rookie contractย and has a base salary ofย $645,000 for the upcoming season.
Barner, 25, came over in a trade with the Panthers just a few weeks ago. He was taken in the sixth round of the 2013 draft by the Panthers.
Last year, Barner rushedย for seven yards on six carries while catching two passes for seven yards, and contributing 17 yards as a kick returner.
