Wentz, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Eagles back in 2016. He’s entering final year of his four-year, $26.7 million contract that included a $16.7 million signing bonus.
Wentz stands to make a base salary of $4.08 million in 2019. The fifth-year option will be worth $22.78 million and will become fully guaranteed on the first day of the 2020 league year.
The fifth-year option is guaranteed for injury only and won’t prevent the two sides from working on a long-term deal over the next year.
In 2018, Wentz appeared in 11 games for the Eagles and completed 69.9 percent of his passes for 3,074 yards, 21 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He also rushed for 93 yards.
