Eagles Expected To Have “Quality Trade Market” For QB Nick Foles

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Eagles are expected to have a quality trade market for QB Nick Foles this offseason.

While there will be some other notable quarterbacks available such as Teddy Bridgewater, Joe Flacco, Blake Bortles andย Ryan Tannehill, Rapoport says that Foles will be the “belle of the ball.

In fact,ย several decision-makers around the NFL believe the Eagles should be able to cash in Foles’ success and possibly secure as much as a first-round pick for him.

Last year, the Eagles reportedly turned down a second-round pick for Foles because of the uncertainty surrounding Carson Wentz.

As for how things may play out, Rapoport says the Eagles could tag and trade Foles. They could also exercise his $20 million option, but he would likely pay the $2 million to become a free agent. From there, the Eagles could apply their franchise tag to Foles.

Rapoport seems to think the franchise tag may be the Eagles best option.

The Eagles have maintained that Wentz is their quarterback of the future, so it shouldn’t come as a big surprise to hear that they’re expected to part ways with Foles next year.

It will, however, be interesting if Foles continues to deliver for them in big playoff games.

Foles, 29, is a former third-round pick of the Eagles back in 2012.ย Philadelphia traded Foles to the Rams back in 2015 in aย deal for QB Sam Bradfordย and he later signed an extension with the Rams.

Unfortunately, Foles lasted just over a year with the Rams before he was released last summer and later signed by the Chiefs. The Eagles signed Foles to a two-year, $11 million contract that includes $7 million guaranteed this past March.

Foles was set to make a base salary of $4 million in 2018 when he agreed to a restructured contract this offseason.

In 2018, Foles appeared in four games and thrown for 1,192 yards while completing 69.8 percent of his passes to go along with five touchdownsย and three interceptions.

We have him featured in our Top 50 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.
