This move ensures that the Eagles would hold Brown’s rights should he return to the NFL at some point.
Brown, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Chargers back in 2016. He finished his four-year, $2.681 million rookie contract and was testing the market as an unrestricted free agent when he agreed to a one-year contract with the Eagles this past March.
In 2019, Brown appeared in 13 games and recorded nine total tackles, no sacks, and one fumble recovery.
