Mike Kaye of NJ.com, citing a source with knowledge of the situation, reports that the Eagles plan to promote DB Elijah Riley to their active roster on Wednesday.
The Eagles have already confirmed the news and announced that they’ve placed S Rodney McLeod on injured reserve and signed Blake Countess to the practice squad.
McLeod, 30, originally signed on with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia back in 2012. After four years with the Rams, McLeod departed in free agency and signed a five-year, $37 million contract that included $17 million guaranteed with the Eagles in 2016.
McLeod was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent this past offseason before returning to the Eagles on a two-year, $12 million contract.
In 2020, McLeod has appeared in 13 games for the Eagles and recorded 65 tackles, one interception, two fumble recoveries, a defensive touchdown and seven passes defended.
Riley, 22, wound up going undrafted out of Army back in April. He later agreed to a rookie contract with the Eagles, but was waived coming out of training camp.
The Eagles re-signed Riley to their practice squad and he’s been on and off of their roster.
In 2020, Riley has been active for two games, but has yet to record a statistic.
