Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that theย Eagles and QB Nick Folesย reached agreement on a revised contract for the 2018 season on Friday.
- According to Garafolo, the contract includes a mutual option for the 2019 season, which ensures that Foles still has the chance to hit free agency next spring.
- Garafolo says that the Eagles wanted to reward Foles for helping them win the Super Bowl last year and is not a reflection of their feeling regardingย Carson Wentz‘s recovery from a knee injury. Philadelphia reportedly remains confident Wentz is working his way back.
- Ian Rapoport adds that Foles receives a $2 millionย signing bonus and several millions in incentives if heโs the starter and hits various benchmarks.
There was a lot of talk about whether the Eagles would trade Foles this offseason, but this is just the latest indication that will remain with the team for the 2018 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent next year.
Foles, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Eagles back in 2012.ย Philadelphia traded Foles to the Rams back in 2015 in aย deal for QB Sam Bradfordย and he later signed an extension with the Rams.
Unfortunately, Foles lasted just over a year with the Rams before he was released last summer and later signed by the Chiefs. The Eagles signed Foles to a two-year, $11 million contract that includes $7 million guaranteed this past March. He stands to make a base salary of $1 million this season and another $4 million in 2018.
In 2017, Foles appeared in seven games and completed 56.4 percent of his passes forย 537 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions. Beyond that, Foles led an impressive playoff thatย culminated in a Super Bowl title and him being named Super Bowl MVP.
