Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for free agent RB Jay Ajayi, told reporters on Monday that they’re still in discussions with the Eagles about a potential return to Philadelphia, per Les Bowen.
According to Rosenhaus, Ajayiโs visit with the Colts last week went well, but there’s currently no agreement in place.
As for his Ajayi’s return from a season-ending ACL injury, Rosenhaus mentioned that he expects Ajayi to be ready for the start of the season, but probably not much before that.
Odds are Ajayi will have to sign a one-year, prove-it contract and try to reestablish some value in 2019.
Ajayi, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2015. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.5 million contract and made a base salary of for the 2018 season.
The Eagles acquired Ajayi in a trade with the Dolphins that sent a 2018 fourth-round pick to Miami.
Ajayi is testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
In 2018, Ajayi has appeared in four games for the Eagles and rushed for 184 yards on 45 carries (4.1 YPC) to go along with five receptions for 20 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
