Eagles Officially Cut Roster Down To 53

The Philadelphia Eagles officially cut their roster down to 53 players.

Other roster moves:

Smallwood, 25, is a former fifth-round pick by the Eagles in the 2016 NFL Draft out of West Virginia. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $2,584,578 rookie contract and set to earn a base salary of $720,000 this season. 

In 2018, Smallwood appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles and recorded 87 rushing attempts for 364 yards (4.2 YPC) and, one fumble lost, and three touchdowns to go along with 28 receptions for 230 yards receiving (8.2 YPC) and two touchdowns. 

Scandrick, 32, is a former fifth-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2008. He was in the fourth year of his five-year, $20 million contract and set to make base salaries of $3 million and $4 million over the final two years of the agreement when the Cowboys designated him as a post-June 1 release in 2018.

The Redskins signed Scandrick to a two-year contract that included $1 million guaranteed only to release him in August. The Chiefs scooped Scandrick up on a one-year deal. 

In 2018, Scandrick appeared in 15 games for the Chiefs and recorded 44 total tackles, one forced fumble, one interception and 13 pass defenses.
