Former Giants RB Rashad Jennings Announces Retirement From NFL

On Friday, former Giants RB Rashad Jennings announced that he’s retiring from the NFL.

During the offseason, Jennings said he had “simple conversations” with a handful of teams including the Lions, Packers, Ravens, Rams, and Dolphins this offseason. However, he never managed to secure a job in time for the 2017 season.

Jennings, 32, is a former seventh-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2009. He spent four years in Jacksonville before signing on with the Raiders in 2013.

The Giants later signed him to a four-year, $10 million contract that included $2.98 million guaranteed and he was set to make a base salary of $2.48 million for the 2017 season when New York released him in a move that freed up $2.5 million of available cap space.

For his career, Jennings rushed for 3,772 yards on 930 carries (4.1 YPC) to go along with 191 receptions for 1,469 yards receiving and 25 total touchdowns over the course of 93 games and seven seasons.
