Cowboys pass rusher Von Miller told reporters he “can still roll out of bed” and get eight sacks, but hopes his impact will matter for Dallas and its quest for another Super Bowl win.

“It’s the Dallas Cowboys,” Miller said, via the team’s website. “When I won the Super Bowl in Denver, we had a million people out there. When we won with the Rams, it wasn’t as much. Hell, at that parade, we were stopping at red lights. We still won the Super Bowl, and it’s still dope, but it’s just a different feel from those two organizations. When I was with the Buffalo Bills, if we won the Super Bowl, it would be a holiday in Orchard Park, and a holiday in Buffalo. Everybody would remember that, and there would be statues for everybody. That’s just the type of organization they have and the type of fans that they have. The Dallas Cowboys fans are that same type of [diehard]. If we’re able to have a successful season and win a Super Bowl here, it’ll be a holiday in Dallas as well. . . . It would be crazy in Dallas. It’ll be a holiday.”

Eagles

Eagles HC Nick Sirianni said the backup quarterback competition between veteran Andy Dalton and Tanner McKee remains open at this time.

“I think both the guys are battling, and I’m really confident in both of the guys,” Sirianni told reporters after the game, via Pro Football Talk. “We’ll see where that goes. The reason Andy is going in first — in practice they’re still rotating. Andy is going in first because he’s not going to play as much as Tanner because he has had more experience and he has more experience within this type of system, and Tanner needs to continue to play there because I think you saw the improvements there from Tanner. So we got to continue to give both of them opportunities within practice and potentially games.”

“[I] thought today he did some good things,” Sirianni continued on McKee. “You know, there will be plays that we’re going to have to correct and there was a lot of positives. I know stat-wise he came out having a pretty good game, and so, but obviously for all of us there will be corrections within it. But, yeah, thought he did some good things. Made some nice plays. Had a couple fourth downs that we would have liked to convert. Not saying those are his fault in that situation, but those fourth downs hurt us, not converting there.”

Giants

Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. received a standing ovation when he returned to MetLife Stadium in a blue uniform in the first preseason game. Head coach John Harbaugh told the media that whatever happens going forward will determine the outcome of Beckham’s return to New York.

“It was everything I was expecting it to be,” Beckham told Ryan Dunleavy of The New York Post. “Just the love to be able to be back here in a place I’ve done special things. It was a special moment with a lot of emotions going into it, so you kind of have to check them and make sure you don’t burn too much energy too early.”

“[The ovation] was fun,” Harbaugh said. “I love Odell. What he’s doing, what he’s fighting for, I don’t know how it’s going to turn out. It’s going to turn out the way it turns out based on what happens.”

“It’s just a day-by-day thing,” Beckham noted. “I feel good as far as my body, knowing what I can do. It’s just going to be making the most of the opportunities that come your way. … That goes for everybody. It’s been a minute [since I played in a game], but I feel the same as leaving practice.”
