Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports free agent TEย Jermaine Gresham wasย diagnosed with a herniated disc on Wednesday, and isย scheduled to undergoย surgery tomorrow.
According to Rapoport, there is no firm timetable for his return at this point in time. He probably won’t know until after the surgery.
- Rapoportย reported Tuesday that Greshamย wasย meeting with a doctor on Wednesday regardingย a back injury.
- Rapoport mentions that the Raiders, Browns, ans Bills are awaiting news regarding his back injury.
The injury was reportedlyย discovered in the free agent process, and is likely the reason why he has yet to sign with an NFL team.
Gresham reportedly had interest from the Raiders and Browns, but there has been little buzz surrounding him in recent days.
Vic Tafur of theย San Francisco Chronicle reported over the weekend that despiteย a long courtship from the Raiders, contract talks withย Greshamย โare dead for now.โ
Gresham, 26,ย is a formerย first-round pick of the Bengals back in 2010, but he never managed to live up to his draft status during his time with the team.
In 2014, Gresham caught 62 passes for 460 yards receiving and five touchdowns over the course of 15 games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 37 tight end out of 67 qualifying players.
We have Gresham listed as the No. 58 player in ourย Top 100 Free Agents list.
